No Drama. No Strings.
Just Pelham.
Who I Am
Hi, I’m Russell Platt. I’m a proud Pelham resident, a father, and a digital marketing professional. I live in the Chandalar neighborhood and have a child attending Pelham Oaks Elementary (and heading to Pelham Middle School this Fall). Like many families in our city, I care deeply about education, opportunity, and building a strong future right here at home.
Professionally, I’m the Director of Digital Advertising for company that recruits for clinical research studies, managing more than $45 million in national campaigns each year. I’ve had the immense privilege of helping bring several breakthrough medications to the public in the last few years. I also serve on the boards of two nonprofits: one supporting veterans' medical research and another advocating for individuals transitioning out of religious leadership roles. My career spans leadership roles in multiple industries.
At my core, I’m a problem-solver. I’m calm under pressure, driven by data, and I believe the best solutions come from listening first, understanding the real heart of the issue, and only then acting with clarity and purpose.
When I’m not working I enjoy playing Minecraft with my son and improving my physical fitness at the gym or by practicing Judo.
What I Stand For
(see the “What I Stand For” page for more details and a full video of me explaining why I’m running)
I'm running for Pelham City Council, Place 4, because I believe local government should be steady, reasonable, and focused on real issues, not politics or personalities.
I’m not a career politician. I’m not backed by insiders or special interests. I’m here to serve, not to climb.
When I say “No Strings,” I mean it. I’ve decided to self-fund my campaign to demonstrate my committment to being accountable to the residents of Pelham and no one else. No one is pulling my strings.
I want to see:
Strong, well-funded public schools — including support for gifted students, special needs programs, and teacher retention, with a reformed process for appointing Board of Education members.
Smart growth and development that supports small businesses and protects our city’s unique character, without outpacing our infrastructure.
Safe, inclusive neighborhoods where everyone feels welcome regardless of race, faith, or background.
Transparency in decision-making, respect for data, and leadership that doesn’t bend to political pressure.
Above all, I believe Pelham deserves leaders who remain calm in the chaos, listen before they speak, and make decisions based on what’s best for the people, not what’s popular or politically convenient.
This campaign isn’t about partisanship. It’s about Just Pelham.
